A drifter pays a visit to an old friend whose mundane life is upended after the two become involved in a seemingly random murder. The pair then embark on a strange & cerebral journey up to the Northern California Sierra in order to bury the body.

Successfully defended in May 2025. This paper dove deeper into applications of the later Wittgenstein toward analytic philosophy, film theory, and the found footage film, using The Blair Witch Project as a case study.

Analyzes how Hannah Arendt's concepts of action, bureaucracy, and the Archimedean Point from Her book 'The Human Condition' are reflected in the film through the narrative and characters.

ABOUT.

Jon Cvack was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He studied Philosophy and Film & Media Studies at Loyola University Chicago. His work has been featured in the Austin, Beverly Hills, San Diego, Lone Star, and Zoetrope Film Festivals, and has created content for such clients as Motor Trend, NBC, Twitter, and Disney.

His first feature film "Road to the Well" won "Best of Fest" at Long Beach Indie Film Festival. Acquired by FilmRise, it is now streaming on Roku and AppleTV+.

He served as Lead Director/Producer of Snapchat's first interactive narrative vertical crime series "Solve," which achieved over 400 million views. Between film projects, he produced The Friendship Onion podcast, nominated for both an Ambie and People's Choice Award. His latest short "With Arms Raised" took home the Grand Jury Award for Best Short Screenplay and Filmmaker's Award for Best Dramatic Short in 2025's FilmInvasionLA.

He's now a freelance producer/director, currently working on a series of short films for the City of LA. Recently, he completed his MA in philosophy at CSU-LA, focusing on the intersection between analytic philosophy, Gen-AI, and film theory. Over the last few years, he's immersed himself in Gen-AI video/audio tools and is currently studying 3D Production at Santa Monica College.
